Brow Packaging was founded by John C.Brow ('J.C.' as he became known).
He came to Belfast in the mid 1930's while working for Lairds of Glasgow
(bag and carton manufacturers). He decided to settle in Belfast and John
C. Brow Ltd was formed in 1943 serving the Linen Industry with printed
pattern paper and special machines were commissioned to manufacture the
greaseproof covered cardboard ringed printed jam jar caps, mostly
contracted to Keillers of Dundee for their Marmalade jars (hence the name
'Caps-All'). In the early 1950's Mr. Brow obtained several agencies such
as Transparent Paper Ltd. (cellulose film manufactures and laminators),
Livermore & Knights (labels) and Cross Paperware (paper napkins
etc.).
In 1958 Mr. Brow's eldest son joined the business and started to expand
the manufacturing side by introducing machinery to make cellulose film
bags. Then in 1964, polythene machines were introduced to print and
convert this material. After the first oil crisis in 1974 the company
started extruding polythene film. Today Brow Packaging manufactures and
converts a range of flexible packaging films and distributes plastic, foil
and paper packaging, in addition to catering and hygiene disposables which
are described in the following sections.
As we start into the 21st Century Brow Packaging remains a family run
business continuing to offer quality and service at competitive
prices.
We thank our customers who have supported us over the years and look
forward to welcoming new ones as we face the challenges ahead.
